Second seed Nicolas Jarry will battle seventh seed Jiri Lehecka in the quarter-finals of the Adelaide International championship. The winner will then play either Sebastian Korda or Christopher O’Connell in the semifinals. Nicolas Jarry has started the season in excellent form and has won all three matches he has contested. Coming to Adelaide after two wins at the United Cup, the Chilean defeated Matteo Arnaldi in the second round. He won in three sets and had to come from a set down to win. Jarry is ranked 18th in the ATP which is a career high placing. He achieved this ranking after a stellar 2023 campaign that saw him win two tour titles.

Jiri Lehecka is making his Adelaide debut and so far so good for the Czech number one. He defeated the qualifier Adam Walton in the first round and then Dusan Lajovic to advance to this round. Lajovic put up a sterner fight than Walton and forced Lehecka to win a decider against him. Lehecka had started the season with back-to-back defeats at the United Cup. The world number 32 defeated Jarry the last time they met, which was two seasons ago in the challenger circuit. His win on clay in Finland tied this series at one win apiece. Lehecka is a decent performer on hard courts and has so far compiled a 42-28 record on the surface in his career.
