Fifth seed Jiri Lehecka takes on unseeded Jaume Munar in the European Open first round on Monday. This will be their second matchup in slightly over a week. Follow for our preview and prediction of this match.

Lehecka defeated Munar in straight sets in Shanghai nine days ago. That will have him confident of making a winning start to his Antwerp campaign.

The Czech star has compiled a 24-15 record and won one title, in Adelaide. He also managed a semi-final run in Madrid and quarter-final finishes in Beijing and Indian Wells.

In recent weeks, however, he has been struggling, and only managed three wins in eight outings. The 22-year-old is currently placed 33rd in the live ranking.

Jaume Munar hasn’t played since losing to Lehecka in the second round in Shanghai. The loss snapped a six-match winning streak and he will be eager to avenge it. That is if he can overcome his indoor struggles.

Munar isn’t a strong indoor hardcourt player, in fact, he has lost almost triple the matches he has won. He has compiled a 13-31 record on the surface in his career.

But as he arrives for this match in far better form than Lehecka, he will fancy his chances. The Spaniard has compiled a 31-29 record.

He has featured mostly at tour level with the highlights of his season at top level being quarter-final finishes in Cordoba and Santiago. Munar is set to start a new week placed 65th in the ATP world rankings.

The winner of this match will play Daniel Altmaier or a yet-to-be-named qualifier for a place in the quarter-finals.
