Unseeded Jiri Lehecka takes on qualifier Marton Fucsovics in round one of the 2024 Dubai Tennis Championships. For the winner there's a second round match against either unseeded Alexei Popyrin or fourth seed Karen Khachanov. This is an ATP 500 outdoor hard court tournament so lots of ranking points are available this week. Lehecka is 36th in the live rankings, 13 places below his career high. He's won seven of his 12 matches this year and 28th in the Live ATP Race. The Czech has won one ATP Tour tournament this year, winning the title in Adelaide. It hasn't gone so well since then and he hasn't made it past the second round in his last three tournaments. His last tournament saw him lose a three-set first round match to Hubert Hurkacz in Rotterdam, two sets by decided by tie-breaks.

Marton Fucsovics is up to 77th in the live rankings after qualifying for the main draw in Dubai. He had to beat Maxime Cressy in straight sets but then needed three to get past Richard Gasquet after losing the first. The Hungarian is now 4-4 this year on the ATP Tour. He's yet to get past the second round of an ATP Tour event this year. In his last tournament, Fucsovics beat Roberto Bautista Agut before losing in three sets to Alexander Bublik  We tip Lehecka to win this match and move into the second round.
