Jiri Lehecka, 24th seed, and world number 64 Benjamin Bonzi will battle each other next at the Australian Open. They will face off in the third round with the winner playing Novak Djokovic or Tomas Machac next. Below is our prediction for this match.

Jiri Lehecka is on course to at least equal his best-ever finish at a major, achieved here in his quarter-final finish in 2023. The Czech number two advanced to this round after Hugo Gaston retired early in their second-round battle.

That was his seventh win of the campaign, maintaining his 100% start. Lehecka, who has moved up to 26th in the live ranking, began the campaign by winning the title in Brisbane.

Benjamin Bonzi battled through four sets to defeat lucky loser Francesco Passaro in the second round. That was his eighth victory in 10 outings this season, moving him up to 61st in the live ranking.

The Frenchman has never progressed past the third round at a major, losing both times he has made it this far. Bonzi and Lehecka have faced off twice before but not at tour level and not on hardcourts.
