Jil Teichmann vs Viktorija Golubic Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Nottingham Open

Jil Teichmann takes on Viktorija Golubic in the first round of the Nottingham Open. The winner  of this all-Swiss match faces a tough task in round two against fourth seeded Donna Vekic. Teichmann has been slipping down the rankings and began this grass court tournament ranked 123rd. At one stage in January, the Swiss player was ranked 28th in the world. The current list published on June 12 saw her drop 46 places. The strong performances recorded in last year's clay court season have not been repeated in 2023, hence the fall down the list. Her only two  quarter-final appearance this year have been in WTA 125 clay court events held in Spain.  No top 130 ranked players were beaten in those tournaments by the Swiss player. On grass, Teichmann has played in the main draw of Wimbledon on three occasions and never won a match. All three of her grass court matches played last year ended in defeat.

Viktorija Golubic started this tournament ranked 150th. That's 115 places below the career-high the Swiss player achieved in February 2022. At the start of the year she was ranked 76th but hasn't had a great 2023. Golubic didn't win a main draw match until March and even then it was over Hailey Baptiste who was ranked 280th at the time. A quarter-final was reached on the ITF circuit but that was followed up by a loss in the first qualifying round at Roland Garros. This is her second grass court tournament of the year. Last week saw her get to the last eight in the ITF tournament in Surbiton. 85th ranked Alison Riske-Amritraj was beaten in the first round of that tournament. Her grass court record is better than that of her opponent, especially at Wimbledon. Golubic got to the last eight two years ago beating two seeds on the way. We believe she can beat Teichmann in this match.
