Seventh seed Alize Cornet will on Thursday face unseeded Jil Teichmann in the second round of the Lausanne Ladies Open. The winner will book a quarterfinal showdown with either ninth-seed Diane Parry or the unseeded Danka Kovinic. Jill Teichmann was in superb form in her opening-round fixture against Erika Andreeva, dropping just four games in the 2-0 win. This was the 20th victory of a topsy-turvy season for the Swiss. She has lost the same number of matches as she has won and this is the same on clay. Teichmann has won half of her 16 fixtures on clay and will hope to add to this here. The 26-year-old is making her sixth appearance in this tournament and is through to this round for the first time since 2019. She is now up two places to 122nd in the live ranking.

Alize Cornet is ranked 70th in the ATP. The former world number 11 has found the going tough this season and has lost more matches than the 12 she has won. This is the same on clay where she has a 6-7 win-loss record. The surface however has provided her with most of her wins and she will hope to add to this against Teichmann. Cornet is making her third appearance here and is returning after four seasons away. In her previous two appearances, she reached the final and won in 2018 with the tournament then held in Gstaad. That same season, she defeated Teichmann at the Lugano Open (clay) in their only encounter to date.
