Sixth seed Jessica Pegula will play Paula Badosa in the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open. This will mark their third career meeting and the winner will battle Iga Swiatek or Aryna Sabalenka in the championship match. Read on for our preview and prediction.

Jessica Pegula has advanced to yet another semi-final in 2024. The American is having a strong year and this is the sixth time she has advanced this far at an event.

Pegula, who is on an eight-match winning streak, is seeking her third title of the season. She arrived in Cincinnati after retaining her Rogers Cup title and has rode that momentum all through the week.

To make it to this round, the world number six defeated Leylah Fernandez in three sets. Pegula won both times she was paired up against Badosa.

Paula Badosa is also in fine form and only once in her last 10 matches has she failed to secure victory. The Spaniard, who won the title in Washington two weeks ago, will arrive for this fixture very confident of victory. 

Badosa has been in excellent form throughout her run in Cincinnati and has won all her rounds without dropping a set. She defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova by the loss of five games in the quarters. 

This was win number 26 of a season that has seen her claim 15 victories on hard courts. Badosa’s form this week has propelled her back to the WTA top 30. She has moved up 10 places in the live ranking and is now placed 27th.
