Fourth seed Jessica Pegula will play the qualifier Katerina Siniakova in one of the quarter-finals of the 2024 Berlin Ladies Open. This will be the fourth career meeting between these two and the winner will advance to play either Cori Gauff, Ons Jabeur or Linda Noskova.

Jessica Pegula has beaten Siniakova twice before. She won in straight sets in Doha two seasons ago, which is the last time they squared off.

The American began her second appearance here after a two-year hiatus with a 2-0 victory over the wildcard Donna Vekic. Her second win on grass in three outings improved her season record to 16-7. Another win here will send the current world number five to her fourth semi of the season.

Katerina Siniakova’s sole win against Pegula came in their only grasscourt encounter. This was three seasons ago in the second round at Bad Homburg, a tournament she would go all the way to the final.

The Czech player, who is a one-time tour champion on grass, will be hoping the stars align for her as they did in 2021.

Siniakova began her third consecutive appearance in Berlin in the qualifying rounds. She has been in exquisite form and won all four of her matches in straight sets.

The 28-year-old defeated sixth seed Qinwen Zheng by the loss of eight games in the second round. This was her 22nd win of the season, moving up to 27th in the live ranking, a new career high.
