Jessica Pegula vs Elina Svitolina Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Indian Wells

It's another unpredictable women's singles tournament. Half the top 10 seeds are already out but the top four remain intact. Fourth seeded Elina Svitolina faces Jessica Pegula who is the 19th seed. Svitolina is the world number seven but that's three places lower than she was last month. One tournament has been won by her this year. That was the Chicago Women's Open in August but it was only a WTA 250 event and no players in the top 50 were beaten. Since then, the Ukranian has reached the quarter finals at the US Open and the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic. A Bronze Medal was won at the Olympics, so it hasn't been too bad a year for her. The last time this event was held was in 2019 and Svitolina made it to the semi-finals. This year, she's beaten Tereza Martincova in straight sets but then had to come from a set down to get past 32nd seeded Sorana Cirstea in round three. Svitolina is 1-1 in previous matches with Pegula. Both were played early on in the year with Svitolina winning in Abu Dhabi but being beaten in three sets at the Australian Open.

Jessica Pegula has risen to 24th in the world rankings. This year began with her in 63rd position, so it's been a major breakthrough year for the American. Pegula is yet to reach a final this year but did make the semi-finals in Qatar and Montreal, plus three other quarter finals. The top seed in this tournament is Karolina Pliskova and Pegula beat her four times in a row this year before a loss at the Western & Southern Open. Her last three tournaments have seen her fail to make it to the last eight. At Indian Wells, the American has had wins over Sloane Stephens and Jasmine Paoli for the loss of only ten games. The winner of this match takes on either Leylah Fernandez or Shelby Rogers in the quarter finals. Back Pegula to edge home in this one, possibly in three sets.
