It will be an all-American battle when third seed Jessica Pegula plays fifth seed Cori Gauff at Eastbourne on Thursday. World number four Jessica Pegula is making her grass court debut for the season in Eastbourne. She has won her two rounds to take her win tally to 29. To advance to this round, Pegula defeated the qualifier Camila Osorio in three sets. This will be the second time that she and Gauff are facing each other in a Singles match. She won the first encounter last season in Dubai and will hope for the same outcome. Pegula and Gauff are more used to playing together than against each other. They have been dominant in the Doubles scene and so far this season they have played four finals and have won twice.

Cori Gauff will hope to have known a thing or two about her Doubles partner to even the head-to-head record between them. The younger American has looked sharp in Eastbourne and has won her two rounds without dropping a set. To advance to this round, she overcame the challenge of crowd favourite Jodie Burrage and lost only two games in the match. In the first round, she defeated fellow American Bernarda Pera. Gauff has won 25 of the 35 matches she has played thus far with three of those victories coming on grass. In addition to her Doubles titles, Gauff won in Auckland for her first and only Singles title in 2023. She is currently ranked seventh in the WTA. The winner of this quarterfinal tie will play either Madison Keys or Petra Martic next.
