Jessica Pegula vs Amanda Anisimova Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA National Bank Open
by Daniel Ngulu | in Tennis Predictions
The stage is set for the Canadian Open final, with defending champions Jessica Pegula set to take on Amanda Anisimova. The match is set for Monday night at Centre Court at the Sobeys Stadium in Toronto. If you are looking to bet on this encounter, here’s our preview and prediction for you.
Pegula, the third seed, faces Anisimova, the world number 132, in what looks to be a lopsided clash if judging by the rankings. The defending champion booked her slot courtesy of a win against the in-form 14th seed Diana Shnaider in straight sets in the semi-finals.
She has been in great form in Toronto and won all her matches without losing a set. Anisimova, on the other hand, saw off eighth seed Emma Navarro via a decider to reach her first tour final since 2022. This will mark the third career meeting between the two, and also the first as a championship match. Pegula won both previous fixtures.

Jessica Pegula - Amanda Anisimova: Form Analysis
Last year, the WTA tournament was held in Montreal where Pegula triumphed to claim her second WTA 1000 crown. In Toronto, she has been more decisive in her run to the final than she was in Montreal.
The American, who started her defence in the second round, won all her four matches in straight sets. She saw off former world number one Karolina Pliskova in her first match and then the qualifier Ashlyn Krueger.
In the quarter-finals, Pegula, who has compiled a 25-10 record, defeated fellow American Peyton Stearns. Against Shnaider in the semis, the five-time tour champion surrendered seven games. This is Pegula’s second tour final appearance of the year.
She triumphed in Berlin in June to claim her first tour title on grass. The current world number six defeated Anisimova in three sets on clay in Charleston earlier this year.
Jessica Pegula is eyeing a third WTA 1000 title and is the bookies' favorite to triumph.
Amanda Anisimova has ended a two-year wait for a tour final appearance. In January 2022, she won the now-discontinued Melbourne Summer Set. That was her second tour title in three finals contested.
With that record in finals, Anisimova will be confident of claiming her first WTA 1000 title. The 22-year-old is playing with a protected ranking as she slowly eases herself back to competitive action after a turbulent 2023.
Last year, Anisimova struggled with mental health and played just 11 matches before ending her season in May. Before this year, the former French Open semi-finalist had never gone past the third round at the Canadian Open.
In her path to the final, she has slayed top players, including second seed Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. Anisimova has compiled a 17-9 record, registering 13 of her wins on hard courts. Reaching the final lifts her back into the WTA top 50 and is now 49th in the live ranking.
