Jennifer Brady has been in good form since the WTA tennis tour resumed. The 28th seeded American is in her first ever Grand Slam quarter final and takes on Yulia Putintseva, seeded five places above her. Brady was the winner of the recent Top Seed Open tournament and has carried that form into this tournament. She is yet to drop a set and made her way through the first three rounds for the loss of just 14 games. Her fine form continued when up against former champion and 17th seeded Angelique Kerber. A straight sets win for the American was the result with only five games won by her opponent. It's all a massive improvement for a player who has been knocked out in the first round of the last three Grand Slam events. The best she had ever achieved was a fourth round appearance in this tournament back in 2017 and she'd lost in the first round in the two years that have followed.

Her opponent is in her third Grand Slam quarter final but the previous two had been on clay at the French Open. Her best result in this tournament had been reaching the third round last year. Earlier in this disrupted year, she'd got to the third round of the Australian Open, losing to Simona Halep. Since the season resumed, Putintseve made it to the last 32 of the Top Seed Open, losing to Jil Tiechmann, who Brady beat in the final. That was followed by defeat in the last 32 at the Western & Southern Open by Maria Sakkari. Better form has been shown in this tournament though, including beating eighth seeded Petra Martic in three sets in the last round. That was her second consecutive three-setter after having to come from behind to beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the third round. Brady can be backed to win this match, she's definitely in better form than her opponent.
