Naomi Osaka is on course to win this title for the second time in three years. The number three seed has a difficult task ahead of her in the semi-final though as she takes on Jennifer Brady. Osaka had few problems in her quarter final getting a straight sets win over Shelby Rogers for the loss of just seven games. The injury worries that caused her to pull out of the final of the Western & Southern Open seem to be behind her at present. This is her third semi-final of the year and the last two rounds have given her lots of hope that a third Grand Slam title can be won at the weekend. Beating both Kontaveit and Rogers in straight sets is an impressive feat.

Jennifer Brady may well give her a tough match though. Brady won the Top Seed Open when the disrupted season resumed. The 28th seed has continued the form shown in that tournament with a run to her first Grand Slam semi-final. In fact, it's the first time she's been past the fourth round. Wins in this tournament have seen her defeat two seeded players. 17th seed Angelique Kerber was beaten in straight sets in the last sixteen and then 23rd seed Yulia Putintseve was dispatched in the quarter finals for the loss of just five games. This is by far her toughest assignment though against an in-form Osaka. The pair have only met twice on court in the past and it's 1-1. The win Brady had was six years ago when Osaka was still in her teens. Go for the number three seed to make the final.
