Eighth seed Jelena Ostapenko continues with her Adelaide title defence and will play Madison Keys next. The two will square off in the second round with the winner battling Daria Kasatkina or Emerson Jones in the quarter-finals. Read on to find our prediction for this match.

This clash pits two of the last three Adelaide champions. On her second appeance here last season, Ostapenko won the title.

She began her title defence with a 2-0 forst round victory over Magdalena Frech. Ostapenko, who is down to 22nd in the live ranking, began her season with a first-round defeat in Brisbane.

That was her fifth successive loss after she finished last season with four straight defeats. The former world number five has won twice against Keys and defeated her in their most recent matchup two years ago.

Keys won the title here in 2022. She will hope to reign supreme once again as she returns to the tournament after that triumph.

Keys, who is on a six-match winning streak in Adelaide, saw off Beatriz Haddad Maia in straight sets in the first round. This was her third victory in four outings this season.

The American, who is up to 18th in the live ranking, began her 2025 campaign in Auckland where she made the quarter-finals. Keys has won three of five meetings with Ostapenko.
