Their most recent meeting was in the semi-final in Adelaide last month with Ostapenko winning in straight sets. That was her second successive loss to her opponent in this final. Alexandrova was 21st when this tournament began but is now up to 19th and will equal her career high of 16th if winning this final. In the Live WTA Race, she's up to 11th. The Russian has also only lost one set on her way to this final. That was in Saturday's semi-final as she had to come from a set down to beat third seeded Donna Vekic.
