Jelena Ostapenko’s quest for a third successive final in Eastbourne continues on Thursday with her quarterfinal showdown against Camila Giorgi. Ostapenko has reached the final at Devonshire Park in the last two seasons. She won the title in 2021 but finished as runner-up last year. By her performance on grass this season, she remains among the favourites to win the tournament. The Latvian arrived in Eastbourne after winning the title at the Birmingham Classic. It was her first title of the season and she has carried that momentum. Here she is yet to drop a set. In the last round, Ostapenko defeated the wildcard Harriet Dart by the loss of seven games. This was her 26th win in 38 matches played so far. Ostapenko defeated Giorgi on her way to last year's final and has now won two of the three meetings between them. She is currently ranked 17th in the WTA.

Camila Giorgi started the week ranked 67th in the WTA. Advancing to this round has catapulted her 11 places to 56th in the live ranking. She has struggled with her form and this is the first time she has won back-to-back matches since her third-round exit in Rome. The Italian has also not lost a set at Eastbourne and having won once against Ostapenko, will fancy her chances here. Giorgi has a record of 16 wins and 12 losses in 2023 with three of her victories coming on grass. To advance to this round, Giorgi overwhelmed world number six Ons Jabeur, losing five games in the contest. Giorgi won the Merida Open in February to end a two-year wait for a tour title. The winner of this match pitting two unseeded players, will play either second-seed Caroline Garcia or ninth-seed Daria Kasatkina next.
