Fifth seed Jason Kubler and the wildcard Ryan Peniston will on Wednesday meet in the second round of the Surbiton Trophy. Jason Kubler defeated the unseeded Gijs Brouwer in straight sets in the first round to begin his grass campaign. The Australian has had a rocky season so far with his record standing at 17 wins and 12 losses. He arrived in Surbiton after his second-round elimination at the French Open. Kubler is making his second appearance at this challenger tournament and will hope to advance from this round for the first time. Nine of his victories on the surface were achieved last season, the only year he finished with a winning record. A quarterfinal showdown with either second seed Andy Murray or the qualifier Bu Yunchaokete awaits the winner.
