World number 61, Andy Murray, will face 97th-ranked Jason Murray Kubler in the Surbiton Challenger tournament quarter-final on Friday. The winner of this match will go on to face either Rinky Hijikata or Jordan Thompson in the semi-final. Murray earned his first silverware of the season at the Aix En Provence at the start of last month but was unable to maintain the momentum in the following two clay-court tournaments he played. He bowed out in the first round at the Rome Masters and then again in the Bordeaux Challenger event a week later. However, the Brit has looked much better on the grass and is heavily expected to lift the trophy here on his home turf. Following wins over Hyeon Chung and qualifier Bu Yunchaokete in the previous rounds, Murray has now improved his record for the year to 15-9 overall, all 2-0 on the grass. This will be his toughest assignment so far, and he will need to be at his very best to overcome the resilient Australian in this one. 

Meanwhile, following a second-round exit from Roland Garros last week, Kubler has seen his world ranking take a significant knock. He went into the tournament in France ranked 69th and has lost as many as 31 places coming into this one. Kubler has only made it to the third round of any tournament twice this year and is yet to get further. Despite his underwhelming form, he has managed to maintain a positive record of 18-12 for the year and is now 2-0 on the grass following wins over Gijs Brouwer and wildcard Ryan Peniston in his first two matches of this tournament.
