The top two seeds will battle in the final of the Jasmin Open when Elise Mertens and Jasmine Paolini square off on Sunday. Mertens is the defending champion and is seeking to retain her title. Jasmine Paolini is through to her fourth final of the year. She defeated fourth seed Lesia Tsurenko in three sets to achieve this feat and now will seek her second title of the season. Paolini has been in fine form this season and also in recent weeks and has won eight of her last 10 matches. In Monastir, she defeated last year's runner-up Alize Cornet in straight sets in the first round. The Italian though, who has compiled a 40-28 record, has won only once in four meetings with Mertens. This was two seasons ago at Indian Wells. Racing to the final here has seen the 27-year-old get into the WTA top 30 for the first time. She is currently ranked 29th in the live ranking.

Elise Mertens won the title here last season in what was the inaugural tournament of this WTA 250 event. She is now only one win away from back-to-back titles. The Belgian has been in impeccable form in racing to her first final of the year and is yet to drop a set. She defeated Clara Burel by the loss of just three games in the semifinals. Her 29th win of the season also meant that she is yet to lose a match in Monastir. Mertens has won all nine fixtures she has contested in this tournament. The 27-year-old has three wins against Paolini including one on hard court the last time they met. Mertens is up five places to 31st in the live ranking.
