The volleyball Women's Olympic Tournament has reached the last round of the group stage and Japan will be hoping to remain in qualification contention when they take on Kenya on Saturday evening. Nippon are third in the group with one point, while the Malkia Strikers are bottom and yet to get off the mark. Here’s our match prediction for this final-round encounter.

With Poland and Brazil already securing the top two places in this Pool, these two sides’ hopes of qualifying will come down to whether they can finish as one of the two best third-placed teams. 

Japan looked as though they were going to pull off an opening-day upset when they claimed the first set of their match against Poland. However, the White and Reds quickly found their rhythm and wrapped up the win 3-1 with three set wins in a row. 

In match two, Nippon were outplayed from the outset against Brazil, who romped to a 3-0 victory while Japan only managed to break the 20-point barrier in one of those sets. 

Those results extended Japan's losing streak to three in a row while they have split their last 10 in all competitions with five wins and five losses. 

Meanwhile, after dominating the Africa Championship, the step up in class has proven extremely difficult for the Kenyans to deal with. 

They have lost both matches here in Paris and have only managed to score more than 15 points in a set on one occasion. 

The Malkia Strikers have now failed to win any of their last five matches against non-African opponents and are winless in seven previous encounters against Japan.
