Japan vs Argentina Prediction & Betting Tips - Rugby World Cup
by Devesh Jaganath | in Rugby World Cup Predictions
The final group stage match of Pool D in the 2023 Rugby World Cup will see Japan taking on Argentina on Sunday. Its winner takes all in this match as the victor will progress to the knockout rounds. Both sides are locked on nine points each. Despite this, Japan are in third place on points difference. The Brave Blossoms won their first match of the competition against Chile but were no match for England in week two. While that loss cast doubt over their chances to progress, they bounced back in style by beating Samoa 28-22 last week, with Pieter Labuschagne, Michael Leitch, and Kazuki Himeno all getting over the try line. Notably, Japan have started their matches very well but have faded away in the second half. They have a very poor record against this opposition and are the clear underdogs in this match.
In contrast, Argentina got their World Cup started poorly, losing to England in week one. However, they were unphased by that result and come into this match with momentum on their side. Los Pumas beat fellow South Americans Cile 59-5 in their last match, scoring an impressive eight tries in the match. With that, they have now won their last two games by an average margin of 30 points. Los Pumas have made 12 changes from their win over Chile and will know that there is no room for error. They have beaten this opponent in five of their last six meetings and are heavily backed to join England in the last eight.

Our Japan vs Argentina Prediction
Los Pumas have got themselves into a position to qualify for the quarter-finals, and while this is not the easiest game in the group, we still expect them to come out on top. Japan will leave everything on the field in this one, and as a result, we will be giving them only a 6.5-point headstart. Our Japan vs Argentina prediction: Handicap Argentina -6.5
