Fresh from his win in Beijing, sixth seeded Jannik Sinner bids to reach the last 16 of the gard court Shanghai Masters. He takes on the 25th seed Sebastian Baez with the winner up against either 19th seeded Ben Shelton or unseeded Roman Safiullin. Sinner is the sixth seed here but his win in Beijing has taken him to a career high ranking of fourth. He also holds that position in the ATP Race and a couple more wins will confirm his place in the Tour Finals. The Italian will be full of confidence after his latest tournament win and beat Danill Medvedev in the final. Before that he'd ended the hopes of Carlos Alcaraz so that shows what form he's in. After receiving a bye into round two of this tournament, Sinner beat Marcos Giron in straight sets.

Sebastian Baez is 29th in the latest rankings but up two places in the live list. He's also in that position in the ATP Race and he won't be qualifying for the Tour Finals. The Argentinian owes his place in the world's top 32 to his form on clay. This year has seen him win titles in Cordoba and Kitzbuhel but he can play well on hard courts too. In August he won the ATP 250 Winston Salem Open but the highest ranked player he beat that week was 29th. Baez only had a qualifier to beat in round two of this tournament and defeated Dane Sweeny for the loss of six games. This is the first match between the pair and we believe Sinner will win in straight sets.
