Jannik Sinner vs Pablo Carreño-Busta Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP National Bank Open

by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions

Jannik Sinner is the highest remaining seed in the Montreal Masters. He's the seventh seed and faces unseeded Pablo Carreno Busta in the third round. The winner takes on either 17th seed or qualifier Jack Draper in the quarter finals. Sinner began this week ranked 12th in the world but has climbed a place after reaching the last 16 of this Masters event. July ended well for the Italian when he defeated Carlos Alcarez (already out of this event) to win the Umag clay court title, his first tournament win of the year. He lost the first set in that final but then won the next two for the loss of just a cojuple of games. That was his first tournament since his surprise run to the Wimbledon quarter finals. So far this week, he's had a win over fellow Italian Adrian Mannarino but also had to come from behind to get that victory.

Pablo Carreno Busta is the world number 23 but up to 20 in the live rankings. Last month saw him reach the semi-finals of the Bastad clay court event but only got to the last 16 in Hamburg the following week. His best performance this year has been reaching the final in Barcelona, losing in straight sets to Carlos Alcarez when he was in much better form than present. He hasn't reached the quarter final of a hard court singles tournament this year. In Montreal, he's had wins over 11th seed Matteo Berrettini in straight sets and Holger Rune for the loss of only three games. The pair have met twice in the past with the score level at 1-1. Busta won two years ago and this year, Sinner beat the Spaniard in the last 32 of the Miami Masters. Sinner is in good form and will want to keep his momentum going with the US Open just around the corner. He can win this but as in their two previous meetings, it could go to three sets.

Our Jannik Sinner vs Pablo Carreño-Busta Prediction

Jannik Sinner will have the aim of maintaining his momentum after winning in Umag. He's up to 11 in the rankings and could well return to the top 10 by the time this tournament ends. Busta is a much better player on clay and hasn't reached the last eight of a hard court singles tournament this year. This could go to three sets but it's Sinner who can get the win.
