Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

Third seeded Carlos Alcarez continues his bid to make tennis history. If he can win the US Open, then the Spaniard will become the youngest ever world number one on the ATP Tour. He takes on 11th seed Jannik Sinner in the quarter final, with the winner up against either Andrey Rublev or Frances Tiafoe in the last four. Alcarez is up to world number two in the live rankings just behind Rafael Nadal who lost in the last 16 of this US Open. This is only his second apperance in the US Open and he made it to the last eight in 2021. He's yet to make it to a Grand Slam semi-final having lost his two previous quarter final appearances. In this US Open, he had three consecutive straight sets wins before having to play a final set to get past Marin Cilic but was never behind in that match.

Jannik Sinner can climb up to eighth in the live rankings if beating Alcarez. He leads the Spaniard 2-1 in previous meetings and won the last two. Those were played on clay when winning the Croatian Open final and on grass at Wimbledon. The only hard court meeting was in Paris last year with Alcarez winning in straight sets. Sinner has reached three Masters quarter finals this year and this is also his third last eight appearances in Grand Slam events held this year. Like his opponent though, he is yet to make the last four in a Grand Slam event. He had a tough first round match in New York needing to come from behind to beat Daniel Altmaier. Sinner needed four sets to beat Brandon Nakashima in round three and then had another five-setter, this time with Ilya Ivashka in the last 16. This could also go to four or five sets but Alcarez seems to be in the slightly better form and can take another step towards the top spot.
