Jan-Lennard Struff vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Prediction & Betting Tips - Bordeaux, France
by Kennedy Kechula | in Tennis Predictions
The first of the Bordeaux Challenger semifinals will have top seed Jan Lennard Struff facing seventh seeded Tomas Etcheverry on Friday. Struff has been in great form lately, and has won eight of his last 10 matches. This good run began in Monte Carlo where he came through the qualifying rounds and then reached the last eight. His success on clay continued in Madrid where he won seven matches and got to the final. That was despite a loss in the qualifying rounds before being reinstated as a lucky loser. Those good performances included wins over Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas. He has continued this trajectory and is now only one win away from back-to-back finals. The German has won his two rounds without dropping a set and has lost 11 games in the process. He has defeated two crowd favourites in Gasquet and Corentin Moutet and should fancy his chances of advancing to the final. Struff has improved his world ranking immensely with this purple patch he is on. He is up to a new career high of number 26 in the live ranking.
Tomas Etcheverry is bidding to reach his third final of the year, all on a clay court surface. The Argentine got to the final of the Chile Open and in Houston, the first two tour finals of his career. He has been superb on clay and will be confident of a third final and possibly a first tour title. Etcheverry started in Bordeaux in the first round and has played one more match than Struff. He is also yet to lose a set but has been forced to seven games in half of the six sets he has played. Etcheverry has also boosted his world ranking and is now up nine places to a new career high of number 52. A showdown with either third seed Richard Gasquet or fifth seed Ugo Humbert in the final awaits the winner.
