Jan-Lennard Struff vs Pedro Cachin Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Mutua Madrid Open
by Devesh Jaganath | in Tennis Predictions
It’s heating up at the Mutua Madrid Open with just the final 16 players remaining, and in our featured match of the round, we will see Jan-Lennard Struff take on Pedro Cachin for a spot in the last eight. Struff has worked hard this year following a good season in 2022 and has improved his rank from 150th in the world at the start of the year all the way to 65th at present. The German has an overall record of 31-12 this year, and 9-4 on the clay, after a solid effort in Monte Carlo at the start of the month. In that tournament, Struff overcame the likes of Emil Ruusuvuori, Alex De Minaur, and Casper Ruud but came up short against the formidable Andrey Rublev in the quarter-final. The German has played as many as five matches already here in Madrid, including two qualifiers, before wins over higher-ranked opponents Lorenzo Sonego, Ben Shelton, and Dusan Lajovic. Struff is looking in great rhythm in this tournament and will fancy his chances of reaching his second major-tournament quarter-final for the year with another win in this one.
Ranked 67th in the world, Pedro Cachin has found it tough this year, falling off slightly from 57th in January. The Argentine is now 13-14 for the year, but has found a little more joy on the clay with a record of 12-8. Cachin’s best performance this year came at the Challenger event here in Madrid at the start of the month, where he reached the final but was unable to overcome Alexander Shevchenko. Following an early exit in Barcelona last week, the Argentine has already overcome Abedallah Shelbayh, Francisco Cerundolo, and, more notably, Frances Tiafoe in the earlier rounds and is now hoping to repeat his form from the challenger tournament by reaching the final of the major tournament this time around. Against an in-form opponent, though, the German will need to be at his absolute best to stand a chance of progressing.

This match has all the makings of being an absolute nail-biter. Both players have taken to the conditions here in Madrid, and it would come as no surprise if this one went to three sets. With that in mind, our secondary bet will be for there to be over 0.5 tiebreaks in this one at very handsome odds of 2.0.
