Second seed Holger Rune continues his bid to win the BMW Open for the third successive year. He takes on the fourth-seeded Jan-Lennard Struff for a place in the final. Rune is the highest remaining seed after Alexander Zverev lost on Friday. The winner of this match will take on either third seed Taylor Fritz or unseeded Cristian Garin in Sunday's final. Not since 1956 has a player won this title three years in a row and that was achieved by the American Budge Patty. Rune is the world number 12 and has played two matches to get to the semi-finals of this outdoor clay court tournament. Straight sets wins have come against Daniel Elahi Galan and qualifier Marc-Andrea Heusler. This is his first match against Jan-Lennard Struff.

His opponent is playing his second match of the day. Struff saw his quarter-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime hit by rain yesterday. He came back this morning and completed a straight sets win to reach the last four. Struff is ranked 28th in the latest ranking list but is up two places in the live rankings. A win over Rune will see him climb to 24th place, three behind his career high. Struff is attempting to reach the BMW Open final for the second time. His other appearance in the title decider saw him beaten by Nikoloz Basilashvili in 2021. Last week he got to the third round in Monte Carlo and (like his opponent in this match) was beaten by Jannik Sinner. This week has seen him get to the last four with two straight sets wins.
