Jan-Lennard Struff and Fabian Marozsan, both unseeded, will meet in the opening round of the Rotterdam Open. The winner of their fourth career meeting will face off with Andrey Rublev or Zhang Zhizhen for a place in the quarter-finals. Below is our prediction for this match.

Struff has started the season poorly, losing twice in three outings. He hasn’t won since the opening round in Auckland a month ago.

Despite this, he will arrive confident of getting the better of Marozsan. He won the last two times they squared off.

His most recent success in this fixture came last season in the first round at Wimbledon. The 34-year-old, who has made four previous main draw appearances in Rotterdam, is 44th in the live ranking.

Marozsan was recently competing at the Davis Cup, where he won one of his two Singles events. He lost his second fixture to Gabriel Diallo by straight sets.

That was the Hungarian’s third loss in his last six fixtures. Marozsan has compiled a 5-3 record and produced a quarter-final finish in Hong Kong and a run to the third round in Melbourne.

The 25-year-old defeated Struff in their first-ever meeting three years ago on an indoor hardcourt in the challenger circuit. However, he is yet to beat the German at tour level.

Marozsan is currently placed 56th in the live ranking.
