Jan-Lennard Struff vs Casper Ruud Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Monte Carlo Masters

Fourth seeded Casper Ruud looks to continue his unbeaten run on clay courts. He takes on qualifier Jan-Lennard Struff in the Monte Carlo Masters third round with a quarter final place up for grabs. Potential opponents in the last eight are fifth seeded Andrey Rublev and ninth seed Karen Khachanov. Ruud won the Estoril Open clay court tournament last week and is up to third in the live rankings. He’s not had the greatest of years but he’s far more at home on clay courts as shown last week. He began his Monte Carlo campaign with a straight sets win over Botic van de Zandschulp but it was a tight 7–5 7-6 win. Ruud is now up to 21st in the live rankings and a win here can take him into the top 20.

Jan-Lennard Struff was ranked 100th at the start of the Monte Carlo Masters. He’s already had a busy week with a couple of matches needed to qualify for the main draw. In his final qualifier he beat the number one seed in qualifying, Emil Ruusuvouri in three sets. He followed successfully qualifying with a win over Albert Ramos Vinolas and then beat 14th seeded Alex de Minaur for the loss of only five games. His four wins have taken him up to 83rd in the live rankings. It’s a big improvement on his seasonal debut on clay after losing to Hugo Gaston (ranked 104th) in Marrakech last week. The German has never made it past the third round in Monte Carlo, last doing so five years ago. He’s won both of his matches against Ruud but the most recent was four years ago. Their one meeting on clay was in this tournament six years ago when Ruud was ranked 127th.
