Wildcard Jan Choinski hopes to stretch his dream Wimbledon start on Wednesday against 17th seed Hubert Hurkacz in the second round. Jan Choinski is playing in the main draw at the All England Club for the first time. To mark this feat, the Brit won his opening-round match against unseeded Dusan Lajovic in four sets. It was a comeback win and should have him confident of prolonging his stay in the tournament past this round. Choinski has been quite busy this season and has now played 46 matches, winning 26 times. He is not a strong performer on grass and has won more than one match a season on the surface this year. The win over Lajovic has bumped him up 16 places to 148th in the live ranking which is a new career high.

Hubert Hurkacz hasn’t moved from being ranked 18th in the ATP after his opening-round win. The Pole recorded his 23rd win of the year when he defeated Albert Ramos Vinolas 3-0. It took him just one hour and 37 minutes to achieve the victory and lost nine games in the process. After making the semifinal here in 2021, Hurkacz was unable to get past the first round last season. His first-round win suggests he is on a mission to at least equal that feat from two seasons ago. Hurkacz has won four of the six matches he has played on grass and has won one title thus far. The winner of this game will next play either 14th seed Lorenzo Musetti or unseeded Jaime Munar.
