American Tommy Paul is the ninth seed in the Paris Olympics men's singles. He takes on unseeded Jakub Mensik from the Czech Republic for a place in round three. Who will win this match? Our prediction will reveal all.

Paul is the world number 13 and playing in the Olympic Games for the second time. Three years in Tokyo he lost in the first round to Aslan Karatsev. It's gone better for him at Roland Garros with a victory over Italy's Luciano Darderi in straight sets.

Now he takes on Mensik with the winner up against either Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff or Corentin Moutet from France in round three, both of whom are unseeded. Paul will be looking to build on his third round at Roland Garros this year, his best performance in that clay Grand Slam.

The American might wish this was being played on grass as were the last three tournaments he's played. Each saw him reach at least the last eight, including winning the Queen's Club title. On clay, he reached the last four in Rome this year.

Jakub Mensik is at a career-high 65th in the new ranking list. The Czech is only 18 and playing in the Olympics for the first time. He began his Olympic career with a straight sets victory over Alexander Shevchenko on Sunday.

That wasn't just his first match in the Olympic Games. He's never played in the French Open either and only played in three Grand Slam events. He is in good form though and got to the semi-finals in the Umag clay court event held last week.
