Jakub Mensik vs Lorenzo Musetti Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Umag Open

Second seed Lorenzo Musetti has continued his excellent form in Umag. He's in his fourth consecutive semi-final and faces unseeded Jakub Mensik for a place  in the final. Time to analyse the form and make our prediction.

The winner of this match will face either top seed Andrey Rublev or fourth-seeded Francisco Cerundolo in Saturday's final. Musetti was ranked 17th at the start of this tournament and winning this match will see him rise to 16th. He's reached semi-finals in Stuttgart and Wimbledon and he was the runner-up at Queen's Club.

Those three tournaments were played on grass but the Italian has continued his form on clay in Umag. Earlier this year he reached two Challenger Tour clay court finals. Winning this match will take him into his second ATP Tour final on this surface. The other was two years ago when he won the Hamburg title.

This week he has beaten Fabio Cobolli in straight sets (both going to a tie-break) and then came from behind to beat Dusan Lajovic. He lost the first set but won the next two for the loss of just three games, all in the second set.

Jakub Mensik is in his first ATP clay court semi-final of the year. The world number 81 is up to 63rd in the live rankings and that’s a new career-high for him. Before this tournament he’d lost three matches in a row. His best result on clay this year had been getting to the last 32 in Madrid. It has gone well for him in Umag this week with three consecutive straight sets wins.

That included beating fifth-seeded Luciano Darderi in round two and then lucky loser Tsen Chung-hsing on Thursday for the loss of only four games. We tip Musetti to win.
