The first round of the outdoor clay court Chile Open sees eighth seed Luciano Darderi face unseeded Jaime Faria. The winner will be up against either qualifier Gustavo Heide or unseeded Thiago Seyboth Wild in the next round. Here's our first round match prediction.
Luciano Darderi is 58th in the live rankings and has made a disappointing start to the new year. Just one of his six matches played in 2025 has been won and that was when his opponent retired.
Jaime Faria is down at 87th in the latest ranking list which is a career-high. The Portuguese player is down three places in the live list as he's about to lose the points he earned when winning an ITF clay court event this time last year.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a lot of success at that level but didn't win a main draw ATP Tour match last year. This year has gone better though with a run to the second round of the Australian Open.
