The ATP Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest University continues on Tuesday with Jack Draper taking on second-seeded Tallon Griekspoor in the round of 32. The winner of this matchup will advance to the final 16 to take on either Emil Ruusuvuori or Max Purcell. Jack Draper has been going through a tough 2023 as he has been dealing with a number of different injuries which have seen him miss time throughout the year. The young English pro only just recently returned after a shoulder injury saw him miss two and a half months of action including the 2023 Wimbledon tournament. Draper’s first tournament back was the Winnipeg Challenger event a week ago in which he would win his first two matches before being knocked out in the quarter-final. Draper, who achieved a career high ATP ranking of 38th in February of this year, easily disposed of 79th-ranked Nuno Borges 6-3, 6-1 in the first round. The 21-year-old now has a record of 13 wins and eight losses in the calendar year including a record of 10-5 on hard courts.
His opponent Tallon Griekspoor is enjoying his highest ever ATP ranking at 25th. It’s been a fine year for the Dutchman up to this point who kicked off 2023 with a Maharashtra Open victory in India. He would then go on to win the Libema Open in his home country of the Netherlands in June and most recently finish as the runner-up in the Washington Open earlier this month. After his defeat in the Washington Open final to Daniel Evans, Griekspoor would then go on to suffer first round exits in the next two tournaments he played. However, these losses came against 12th-ranked Alexander Zverev and 10th-ranked Frances Tiafoe. Griekspoor hung tough against Tiafoe in his most recent outing, taking the match to a third set before ultimately losing six games to four. Overall, the 27-year-old has posted a record of 28-16 in 2023 which includes 14 wins and only seven losses on outdoor hard courts.

Our Jack Draper vs Tallon Griekspoor Prediction
Jack Draper is considered to be a specialist on this type of surface and boasts a career 72% winning mark on hard courts. However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the talented young Englishman after only recently coming back from a recent injury layoff. He’s looked good in the few matches he has played since then but his quarter-final loss in Winnipeg to 121st-ranked Cazaux is cause for concern. He’ll face a significant step up in competition against Tallon Griekspoor who has put up some impressive results this year. We’re going to side with the player in the more consistent vein of form. Our Jack Draper vs Tallon Griekspoor prediction is for Griekspoor to win.
