The Azzurri of Italy and The Dragons of Wales will trade tackles in a high-stakes 2025 Six Nations Week 2 fixture on Saturday, February 8, at Stadio Olimpico, Rome. After settling for defeats in their respective opening fixtures, this must-win clash will decisively determine the fate of the two teams in the competition. Here is our prediction for the match.
Wales will be hoping to put their humiliating 43-0 away defeat to France in the opener behind them and bounce back to winning ways against Italy.
However, they face an uphill task as they head into the match on the back of a worrying and prolonged losing streak. The loss to France extended their winless run to 13 straight international matches (including friendlies), which dates back to the 2024 edition of the Six Nations.
Italy also suffered defeat in their Six Nations opener, losing to Scotland at Murrayfield, Edinburgh but with a more respectable 31-19 score margin.
Counting on home support on Saturday, they will hope to secure all four points with a win against the visiting Wales to boost their chances in the competition.
Notably, while Wales' stuttering run shows no sign of abating, Italy are familiar opponents for The Dragons. They have maintained an unrivaled dominance over the Italians since first meeting in 1994, winning 28 of their 33 meetings, losing four, and drawing one.
