Italy begin week three of the 2025 Six Nations tournament in fifth place. Sunday sees them host France who are second after the first two games of this year's tournament. Can Les Bleus beat the italians? Here's our match prediction.
France trailed Ireland by four points after the first two sets of games. That gap is likely to be wider by the time this match takes place. It'll be a big surprise if Ireland doesn't beat Wales on Saturday. If that is so, then the pressure will mount on France, especially with England or Scotland bound to overtake them on Saturday. France will therefore want to avoid last year's disappointing home draw with Italy.
They began this year's Six Nations with a 43-0 home win over Wales. They couldn't build on that though and lost away to England by a single point. France have won 45 of their 49 previous matches against Italy.
Italy lost away to Scotland in their opening match but then beat Wales at home. They have certainly improved in the past year or so and their matches are being more fiercely contested. They haven't beaten France in 12 years but did get that draw in Paris last year.

France dare not drop points in this match. With Ireland strongly fancied to beat Wales and earn a bonus point, France need a similar end result from this trip to Italy. The home side aren't so easily beaten as in the past and have had home wins over Scotland and Wales last year and in this tournament.
The French side would have beaten England if they'd taken their chances. Their hope is that it'll be a different story this weekend. Our Italy v Scotland prediction is France to win on a -12.5 points handicap.
