Match two of the 2024 Paris Olympics volleyball competition will see Italy taking on Brazil on Saturday morning. Gli Azzurri enter the competition ranked third in the world, while the Canarinhos Galactic are seventh. These two sides have been drawn into Pool B along with Egypt and Poland. Let’s get into the match prediction.

Italy are set to get their 2024 Paris Olympics volleyball campaign underway against their old foes Brazil and will be looking to avenge their previous heartache against the South Americans. 

Gli Azzurri faced this opponent twice in the gold medal matches in the past, first at the Athens 2004 and the Rio 2016 Games, and lost both times, having to settle for the silver medal. 

The reigning world champions earned their spot at this year’s Games as one of the four best teams in the FIVB World Ranking and are embarking on their 13th consecutive appearance at the Olympics since debuting in 1976 in Montreal. 

During their Olympic journey, Italy have won three silver medals, and three bronze medals but have never been able to claim the gold. In their last 10 matches, Gli Azzurri have a record of seven wins and three losses. 

These two have traded blows in recent times, splitting the last four matches two wins apiece, with Italy winning the most recent encounter 3-2 in May this year at the Nations League tournament. 

However, Canarinhos Galactic have built up solid momentum leading up to the tournament, rattling off five friendly wins in succession over Australia, China, Japan B, and twice against Germany in the last two weeks. 

They came second in Pool A of the FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifiers and are set to feature in their 16th Games in a row since 1964. During that time, Brazil have earned three golds and three silver medals, making them one of the most decorated teams in Olympic history.
