Ireland will be attempting to make history this year. No side has managed to win the Six Nations for three successive years but Ireland are chasing a hat-trick this year. They host England in their opening match. Read our match prediction.
The Irish team will not be coached by Andy Farrell who is busy with the British Lions. Simon Easterby is in charge and will be wanting his side to make a winning start to their Six Nations campaign after a promising Autumn campaign.
England didn't have such a good time in the Autumn and as you will read in our form guide, had plenty of problems last year. They finished third in the 2024 Six Nations and that did include coming from behind to beat Ireland at Twickenham. Their away form is a major concern though and wins in Dublin have been rare in recent years. Can they cause a shock this weekend?

Ireland - England: Form Analysis
Ireland have won the last two Six Nations and won last year's tournament by five points. They won four of their five games with the only loss being at Twickenham. The Irish side led in that match but were eventually beaten and failed to win the Grand Slam.
They suffered a rare home loss in the autumn, being beaten by New Zealand. Since then though, they have had home wins over Argentina, Fiji and Australia. Their last three home matches against England have all been won.
England are struggling for away wins.
England had a mixed Autumn series and that ended a disappointing 2024 for them. They finished third in the Six Nations and lost the Calcutta Cup to Scotland. Away form is poor with four of their last five matches being lost.

Ireland & England Squad Analysis
injured and to cover for him Tadhg Beirne will play at lock rather than blindside. At the back they will have captain Caelan Doris, Josh van der Flier and Ryan Baird.
Wearing the number 10 shirt will be Sam Prendergast with Finlay Bealham, Andrew Porter and Roman Kelleher in the front row. Dan Sheehan is on the bench for this match. The lock has only just returned from a lengthy time out due to injury.
New captain for England.
For England, brothers Ben and Tom Curry will both start this match. The side will be captained by Maro Itoje and this will be the first time he's been given that honor. Starting at hooker for the Red Roses will be Luke Cowan-Dickie who replaces the injured Jamie George.
There's a Test debut for Cadan Murley who will have Freddie Steward and Tommy Freeman alongside him in the back three.
