Ireland vs England Prediction & Betting Tips - Six Nations
by Devesh Jaganath | in Six Nations Predictions
After almost two months of action-packed competition, the Six Nations tournament will come to an end this weekend, and in the title decider, we will see the Champions-elect Ireland prepare to do battle with England at the Aviva Stadium in the final match of Super Saturday. How fitting that the world’s number one ranked side will be given the opportunity to lift the title one day after St. Patrick's day and secure what will be their fourth Grand Slam in their history. Ireland has been nothing short of incredible in this tournament and showed their dominance once again last weekend when they took apart Scotland 22-7, ending Scot's hopes of a famous title run. While the odds are heavily stacked in their favour, the Irish will not want to begin their celebrations too early, though there will definitely be a festive spirit around the Aviva Stadium ahead of this match. They will be crowned champions before this game if France fail to beat Wales. The platform has been laid for the men in green, and they will want to overcome this final hurdle with authority to lay a marker down for the World Cup later this year.
England has looked good in spurts this tournament, and under the guidance of Steve Borthwick, they look like a better all-round side. However, what is also evident is that they still have a long way to go before they can confidently believe that they are in a position to challenge the best teams in the world. That point was underlined in their last match, with France demolishing them 53-10 in their own backyard, where they looked to have no answer to the rampant attack of their opponents that day. Now, France will be hoping that England can put that beating behind them and pull off what would be a famous win over the Irish which would leave the door open for them. The proud English will give it everything they have, but based on their current form, it’s going to take something of a miracle for them to stop the Irish from lifting the trophy at the end of this one.
