We head to Holkar Stadium in Indore for the third of the four-match test series between India and Australia, with the hosts in the driver's seat after two strong displays already in the series. India has already retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy, winning their first two tests in impressive fashion and extending their incredible record-breaking home record to 16 series without defeat. India is now firmly in second position in the ICC World Test Championship rankings and will be guaranteed a spot in the final with another win in this match. India dominated the first test, bowling Australia out twice for under 300 runs combined over both innings, and went on to win by an innings and 132 runs. Their biggest strength in this series has come from the bowling department, where spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have headlined for the men in blue, picking up 17 and 14 wickets, respectively, and have choked the opposition from scoring freely. India has their tails up coming into this match and will be confident of securing another win and claiming the series outright.

The ICC World Test Championship's top-ranked side may be 2-0 down in the series but no one can doubt their efforts. Australia put on a resilient display in the second match and got themselves into winning positions on several occasions but was unable to overcome the Indian spin attack that forced them into overusing the sweep shot, which ultimately led to their downfall. Unsurprisingly, Nathan Lyon’s off-break bowling proved to be the visitor's most effective weapon in that match, where he managed to deliver a 5-fer for his side. Australia has had time to figure out where they went wrong in those two tests but will have the added complication of notable absentees with skipper Pat Cummins returning home for personal reasons, while David Warner, Josh Hazelwood, and Ashton Agar are all set to miss out through injuries. The good news for the Aussies will be the return of Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green, with the latter likely to start as the third spin option for the visitors.
