Iga Swiatek vs Rebecca Peterson Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA US Open

Iga Swiatek begins the defense of her US Open title against unseeded Rebecca Peterson. The winner of this match will face either Daria Savile or Clervie Ngounoue in round two. Swiatek has won four WTA titles this year but only one has been a Grand Slam event. Three of her titles won in 2023 have been on a hard court with triumphs in Doha, Dubai and Warsaw. Recent tournaments haven't gone quite so well though with semi-final defeats to Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff. Seven of her last eight matches have had over 16.5 games played in them with five of them going to a final set. There have been plenty of dominant wins earlier in the year but the past few weeks have seen much closer matches with only two of her last seven being straight sets wins for the Pole.

It's not been closed in the two previous matches between Swiatek and Peterson. Swiatek won them both and has only lost six games. The last meeting was in the 2022 Australian Open (their only hard court match) and Peterson did manage to win four games in that one. Peterson is ranked 86th in the world and this is the third time the Swede has been drawn against Swiatek in a Grand Slam tournament. The 28-year-old has a career high of 43rd and that was achieved four years ago. The last three years have seen her lose in the first round of the US Open and of course we expect that to become four. The big question for our bet is can she take the match to at least 17 games? Her form is good with a quarter final reached in Chicago in her last tournament. Four of her last five matches have been seen over 16.5 games played.
