Top seed Iga Swiatek continues with her quest for another WTA title and will next in Dubai play sixth seed Qinwen Zheng. They will square off in the quarterfinals with the winner battling either Coco Gauff or Anna Kalinskaya for a place in the final. Iga Swiatek has been in excellent form this year and has so far won 13 of the 14 matches she has played. One of those wins was a straight-set victory over Zheng in the United Cup. That marked her fifth win against the Chinese number one and she will be confident of another victory. Swiatek defeated Elina Svitolina 2-0 in the third round to extend her current winning run to six matches. All six matches have been won in straight sets. The current world number one is returning to Dubai after missing last year’s edition. She has played in this event twice before and only now has she managed to go past the third round.

Qinwen Zheng is also one of the in-form players in the WTA this season. The Chinese athlete has played 13 matches so far and has won 10 times. All 13 matches have been on hard courts. Two of the three defeats she has suffered have been inflicted by top-10-ranked players. She will hope that this isn’t the case again as she seeks her first win over Swiatek. Zheng, who is in her second appearance in Dubai, defeated Anastasia Potapova in straight sets in the third round. It was a more assured performance than her opener against Nao Hibino in which she had to come from behind to win. Ranked eighth in the live ranking, Zheng has broken into the WTA top 10 on account of her form this year.
