Predicting a women's singles Grand Slam event is never an easy task. We're at the semi-final stage of the 2020 French Open and not one seed remains in the top half of the draw. Iga Swiatek takes on Nadia Podoroska for a place in the final. Swiatek began the tournament ranked 54th in the world but with a good clay record. The Polish teenager reached the fourth round last year and won a number of ITF tournaments before moving up to the main tour. This tournament has seen her in great form, knocking out the 16th seeded Marketa Vondrousova in the first round for the loss of just four games. The fourth round saw her beat the top seed Simona Halep with just three games loss. Her form continued to impress in the quarter final as she defeated qualifier Martina Trevisan in straight sets. Five matches have seen Swiatek lose just 20 games!

Nadia Podoroska was ranked 131st when this tournament began. That lowly ranking meant she had to qualify to get through to the main draw of a Grand Slam for only the second time in her career. She's had a four year wait, witht the other main draw appearance being in the 2016 US Open. The Argentinian lost in the first round in that tournament but has had the run of her life in Paris over the last week or so. The second round saw her beat 23rd seeded Yulia Putintseva. The fourth round saw her have to go to three sets to get past Barbora Krejcikova and then she knocked out third seed Elina Svitolina in the quarter finals. The tip here is for Swiatek to continue her impressive form and make it to her first Grand Slam final.
