Iga Swiatek vs Madison Keys Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Mutua Madrid Open
by Daniel Ngulu in Tennis Predictions
Top seed Iga Swiatek will play 18th seed Madison Keys in the semi-finals of the 2024 Madrid Open. The winner will play Yulia Putintseva, Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka or Mirra Andreeva in the final. Iga Swiatek is just one win away from equaling her career best in Madrid achieved last year. She finished as runner-up last season and will be determined to go all the way this season. Swiatek, who has played three finals and won two titles in 2024, defeated Beatriz Haddad Maia in the quarters. It was her first three-set victory of the event and saw her come back emphatically after losing the first set. Swiatek allowed the 11th seed just two games in the final two sets. She has now won 30 of 34 matches this season, maintaining her tight hold on the world number one spot. Swiatek has won two of the three previous matchups with Keys, one on clay in Rome.
Madison Keys is having the campaign of her life in Madrid. The American had never progressed past the third round in nine previous appearances. She had lost in the first round in her last five appearances. Keys, who had a belated start to the season due to injury, defeated former Madrid champions Ons Jabeur in the semis. She came back from losing the first set 6-0 to secure the win with a 6-1 decider. Keys had also defeated compatriot and third seed Cori Gauff in three sets before battling Jabeur. She has now compiled a 7-3 record with four of her wins coming in five outings on clay. Keys has won more than two matches in a row for the first time since September. Her Madrid success has moved her up four places to 16th in the live ranking. The 29-year-old defeated Swiatek in straight sets the last time they met, which was two seasons ago in Cincinnati.
