Top seed Iga Swiatek and 26th seed Linda Noskova will square off next at the Indian Wells Open. The two will battle in the third round with the winner playing either Madison Keys or Yulia Putintseva. Iga Swiatek lost to Putintseva at the Australian Open earlier this year. The world number one surprisingly lost in the third round in three sets and will have this as extra motivation for this match. Swiatek is a former Indian Wells champion, winning the title in her second main draw appearance in 2022. She didn’t defend her title last season. But did make it to the semifinals and will be out to defend the almost 400 points earned then. Swiatek has compiled a 15-2 record thus far and triumphed in Doha as well as in Australia as part of the Polish squad at the United Cup. The 22-year-old defeated Danielle Collins by the loss of just three games in the last round.

Linda Noskova is also having an amazing start to the year and will go into this match confident of another win. The Czech player has won 13 of the 17 matches she has so far played this season. She produced a quarterfinal finish at the Australian Open and a semifinal run in Brisbane. Her run in Melbourne was her best-ever result at a major. Noskova debuted at Indian Wells last season and made it to this very round. The 19-year-old defeated Camila Giorgi in straight sets to begin her second appearance in this WTA 100 event. It wasn’t a straightforward win as she lost eight games to the Italian. Noskova is currently down one place to 30th in the live ranking despite progressing to this round. Her win over Swiatek in Melbourne was the biggest victory of her career.
