Top seed Iga Swiatek has a Friday date against eighth seed Linda Noskova in the 2023 Poland Open quarterfinals. A semifinal showdown with either Heather Watson or Yanina Wickmayer, both unseeded, is in store for the winner. Swiatek has once again started a tournament in dominant fashion and will hope to go all the way here. The WTA world number one has won her opening two rounds without dropping a set. In her last match, she dropped just four games, against Claire Liu. This was her 44th win of the season in 51 matches. Eighteen of her victories have come on hard courts where she has suffered only four defeats. It is on the surface that she has also won one of her four titles so far. Swiatek is playing in her second season here and will hope not to suffer a last-eight elimination like last year.

Linda Noskova is on her debut appearance in Warsaw. The Czech will hope her strong form on hard court will see her prolong her stay here past this round at least. Noskova hasn’t had a straightforward campaign and has compiled a 22-14 record. She has however been more settled on hard courts where she has won 11 of 15 matches. After coming from a set down to win her first-round tie, the 18-year-old turned on the style to win in straights last time. She defeated Viktoria Hruncakova by the loss of six games to book this round. Despite the win, Noskova has dropped 11 places to 70th in the live ranking. Her highlight of the season remains to be the run to the final in Adelaide at the start of the year. This was the first tour final of her career.
