Iga Swiatek vs Kaia Kanepi Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Australian Open

Women's singles tournaments do tend to produce shock results. World number 115 Kaia Kanepi has been doing that in the Australian Open and takes on seventh seeded Iga Swiatek in the quarter finals. Most of her recent successes have come on the ITF circuit. This year began with her playing in the WTA tournament in Melbourne, losing in the second round to Anna Konjuh (ranked 67th at the time). She has a reputation for causing upsets in Grand Slams but this is her first quarter final since 2017. The Estonian first played a Grand Slam event in 2002 and this is her seventh Grand Slam quarter final, the other six have all been lost. Her form in recent Grand Slam events hasn't been great with two first round exits last year. Kanepi has hit form this week though and in the last round beat second seeded Aryna Sabalenka.

Now the 36-year-old takes on 20-year-old Iga Swiatek who is in her first Grand Slam quarter final away from the French Open. This is the fifth Grand Slam in a row in which Swiatek has reached at least the fourth round. A win over Kanepi will take her up to fourth in the rankings, that equals the highest position of her career achieved last year. One warm-up tournament was played by the Pole and she lost in the Adelaide semi-final to Ashleigh Barty, who she could meet in the final of this tournament. Only against Sonya Cirstea in the last round has Swiatek dropped a set. Go for her to get the win over Kanepi.
