Iga Swiatek vs Jil Teichmann Prediction & Betting Tips - WTA Bad Homburg Open

World number one Iga Swiatek will take on 121st-ranked Jill Teichmann in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Bad Homburg Open on Wednesday. The winner of this match will face either Leylah Fernandez or Anna Blinkova in the quarter-final. These two have only met once in the past, back in 2019, and Swiatek won in straight sets. The Pole capped off her clay swing with a Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last month and will now be looking to carry the same type of form to the grass. Swiatek has only played 10 matches on the grass in the last three years and has a lifetime record of 10-6. In her first match on the surface for the year, she came up against Tatjana Maria and was tested by the German, who won the second set after breaking Swiatek’s penultimate serving game. However, the Pole quickly rectified her mistakes and powered home in the third set without losing a single game. Swiatek is now 36-6 for the year and will be strongly fancied to go all the way in this competition. 

Meanwhile, Jill Teichman had to overcome Nadia Podoroska in the qualifiers to enter the main draw here. She took on Claire Liu in the first round and found herself on the backfoot early as the American secured the first set with two break points. However, Teichman, who is not the biggest fan of the grass surface, fought back valiantly in the second and third sets, earning four break points and converting two of them to take the win in just under two hours. Her record for the year now stands at 17-17 and 3-2 on the grass. That win over Liu was only her second in almost three months. Teichman will be a massive underdog in this one, and it seems unlikely that she will be able to overcome the world number one here.
