Top seed Iga Swiatek and sixth seed Jessica Pegula will meet yet again at the US Open. They will square off in the quarter-finals of this year’s tournament. Read on for our preview and prediction of the match.

Swiatek defeated Pegula in the quarter-finals of her title-winning campaign here in 2022. She won in straight sets on the way to her third major title. With a dominant record against the American, she will be confident of another victory and hopefully another title success.

The world number one, who has defeated Pegula eight times in nine meetings, has won all her four matches here in straight sets. She defeated 16th seed Liudmila Samsonova in the last round by the loss of five games.

Swiatek, who has compiled an incredible 59-7 record, has won five singles titles, among them the French Open.

Jessica Pegula has never won a quarter-final tie at a major. She has lost six times at this stage. As she is also having an incredible season, she will be optimistic of finally getting over the hump.

The American has put up a 34-11 record thus far and won two titles. She has also ploughed her way to this round without dropping a set which works well on her confidence.

Pegula, who has reached the final in her last two tournaments, defeated the in-form Diana Shnaider in the last round. She won by the loss of six games. The win allowed her to move one place to fifth in the live ranking.

The winner from this Wednesday clash will face Beatriz Haddad Maia or Karolina Muchova in the semis.
