Top seed Iga Swiatek will face qualifier Anna Kalinskaya in the second semifinal of the Dubai Tennis Championship. The winner will play either Jasmine Paolini or Sorana Cirstea in the championship match. Iga Swiatek is now only one win away from yet another tour final appearance. The Pole breezed past her opponents in this year’s edition, just as she has done all season. Currently, on a seven-match winning run, Swiatek has won her three matches here without dropping a set. She defeated world number seven Qinwen Zheng in the last round by the loss of five games. The world number one, who has compiled a 14-1 record, arrived in Dubai after winning the Qatar Open.

Anna Kalinskaya is having an excellent season and is now only one win away from a first tour final. The Russian has compiled a 13-4 record and six of her wins have come in her main draw debut in Dubai. She started the competition in the qualifying rounds and won her first five matches without dropping a set. Her first set was lost in the quarterfinals against world number three Cori Gauff. Kalinskaya had to dig deep after going 1-0 down to the American and gave up six games in the final two sets. Defeating a top-seeded player and one of the favourites for the title here should have her more confident about going all the way. The 25-year-old has moved into the WTA top 30 for the first time in her career thanks to her superb showing here. She is currently placed at number 27 in the live ranking and can move up to 24th if she progresses to the final.
